The Phoenix Mercury has been one of the top performers in this year’s WNBA. With 27 wins and 17 losses, the Mercury ended up in fourth position. Playing some impeccable basketball, the Mercury made a WNBA playoff formula that many failed to see. And one of the main reasons for their impressive run was undoubtedly Satou Sabally. Down with injury earlier in the season, her comeback to form helped Phoenix a lot.
And now, while the Mercury will be looking to get the most in the playoffs, Sabally will have added responsibility too. But before she embarked on her playoff journey, the Mercury star received heartfelt support from Phoenix Rising FC.
Satou Sabally Backed By Phoenix Rising For Inclusion In The All-WNBA Team
The 27-year-old star has proved to be an asset for the Mercury. Given her dominance on the hardwood, the official X, formerly known as the Twitter account, posted a campaign. The campaign stated why the Mercury star must be considered for the WNBA All-Star team. They also listed her awards and achievements in detail to further make a strong case for themselves.

Surprisingly, the Phoenix Rising FC took to their own social media handles to extend their hands of support. Rising FC shared and reposted the campaign by Mercury and also had its players posing with none other than Sabally herself. They were also spotted holding jerseys of the 27-year-old to make their support stronger.

The Rising FC social media handle also added a caption that read, “Big Satou fans over here #AllAZ #TodosRojos.” Surely, this will be a huge mental support for the Mercury star. Earlier this year, Sabally requested a trade from the Dallas Wings to come to Phoenix. And immediately, she has become part of the big three along with the likes of Kahleah Cooper and Alyssa Thomas. And while Sabally’s return to form is crucial for Mercury’s deep playoff run, she herself has backed Alyssa Thomas for the MVP.

Satou Sabally Wants Alyssa Thomas To Win The WNBA MVP
Surely, it is evident that Sabally has a lot of backing for some major honors in this year’s WNBA. However, she herself has some choices that the 27-year-old is not afraid to put forth. Only days after the Aces coach, Becky Hammons, picked A’ja Wilson as the potential WNBA MVP, Sabally had her own take on the matter. Back in late August, the Mercury had a commanding 92-84 win against the Los Angeles Sparks.

In the game, the spotlight was on Alyssa Thomas. Putting on a show, she dropped her third straight triple-double, which was a first-time feat in the WNBA. Impressed by the antics, Sabally wasted no time in pushing Thomas as her top pick for the WNBA MVP. “I would tell them she’s one of a kind. No on has been doing or has ever did anything like her. And she is the Most Valuable Player in the whole league. Period,” said Sabally.
Thus, it does look like the Phoenix Mercury will be having a great playoff run. However, in order to achieve the same, the likes of Sabally and Thomas will surely need to come to the party.
