Everybody loves those games where the underdogs, or in the Seattle Storm’s case, the benchwarmers, steal the spotlight. On Friday night, they pulled off something straight out of a feel-good sports movie.
The Storm crushed the Dallas Wings 95-60 and etched their name in WNBA history. Sure, the final score looks like a blowout, but what really turned heads was how the Storm’s bench mob took over and outscored the entire Wings team all by themselves.
Seattle Storm’s Bench Outscored Dallas Wings Squad
It was a dream game for Seattle, not only for the starters but also for the bench, and their performance came pouring in. The Storm reserves dropped 62 points, while Dallas managed just 60. That’s a first in league history, folks.

The four-time WNBA champion team, sitting at 19-18 after the win, the Storm is scrapping for a playoff position, just half a game behind the Indiana Fever for that sixth seed. They’ve won two straight, and this one felt extra sweet at home. The starters didn’t have to break a sweat. Gabby Williams led them with nine points in 21 minutes, and Brittney Sykes chipped in eight.

That's the first time in WNBA history a team's reserves outscored the opponent's entire points total in a game! 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/svRcgjM3YR
Additionally, vets like Skylar Diggins-Smith, who’s making it big time maintaining unique streaks, and Ezi Magbegor each added six. Nneka Ogwumike? Just four points in 22 minutes. It was like the big names clocked in for a quick shift and let the backups run the show.

However, Dominique Malonga was the star off the pine, pouring in 22 points on ridiculously efficient shooting. She missed only two of her 12 attempts while grabbing nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double.
Similarly, Erica Wheeler wasn’t far behind as she lit it up with 17 points in 20 minutes, including four threes out of six tries. Tiffany Mitchell added 11 more, going 5-for-7 from the field. Together, that bench crew put up the most points by any reserves in the WNBA this season.
Dallas Wings Had No Answer To Seattle Storm’s Depth
While it was all high and happy for the Storm, it was a rough night for the Wings. Paige Bueckers, fresh off a monster 44-point game against the Sparks, cooled off big time. She managed just 11 points on 28.6% shooting, taking fewer than 10 shots for the first time in weeks.

Although Dallas as a team couldn’t find its rhythm and got smothered by Seattle’s depth, other than the bench standing to business on occasion, their health played a crucial role in building more than just star players.
While most other teams are struggling with injuries and fatigue, having a bench that can win games straight-up is gold. This is the kind of history that shows the WNBA’s evolving, with teams leaning on full rosters to compete. As the playoffs loom, Seattle has the momentum it needs. If its reserves keep balling like this, who knows how far it can go?
