Crazy trades are changing the league’s landscape lately. While the players are making moves for better opportunities, teams are getting stronger for the playoffs. In a similar trade completed before the deadline, the Seattle Storm landed the 2025 All-Star, who replaced injured Caitlin Clark in the main event.
The trade puts them in a stronger position to make a deep run in the postseason and possibly challenge for the franchise’s fifth title, the most in WNBA history.
Seattle Storm Land 2025 All-Star In Mid-Season Trade
The Seattle franchise might have lost the last three encounters in the league, but their strong start handed them a breather in the second half of the season. Dominique Malonga is showing great progress and setting records in her rookie season. Veteran stars like Nneka Ogwumike and Skyler Diggins are controlling the games.
But the team needed a strong back-court partner to keep the offensive momentum going for them. With a chance to add depth to their roster, the Seattle Storm added Brittney Sykes in a trade with the Washington Mystics.
The 2025 All-Star continue to shine with the Washington franchise. She averages 15.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. She will look to put the champion side back in the contender position with her offensive gameplay. The team traded for the talented guard, exchanging Alysha Clark, guard Zia Cooke and one of Seattle’s 2026 first-round draft picks.
The Washington Mystics waived Cooke and forward Sika Kone to complete the trade, as per the statement. However, they now have three first-round picks in 2026.
