With the CBA talks ongoing, the WNBA players are trying to find alternate ways to get some exposure as well as make money. In a recent turn of events, the CBA deadline has been pushed back by 30 more days.
Likewise, WNBA star Serena Sundell too wanted to have some offseason action. Signing up with the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL, Sundell hoped to make a lasting impact.
And surely enough, the 22-year-old has had quite an impressive season so far. Now, while she braced up for the big game against the Sydney Flames, things went horribly wrong for the WNBA star.
What Happened To Serena Sundell?
Adelaide vs Sydney in the WNBL is always a heated game to watch for the fans. Thankfully for the Lightning fans, they were treated to an exquisite hooping display this festive season. Putting on a stellar show, the Sydney Flames were dismantled as they lost the game with the score reading 88-71.

Unfortunately, Sundell’s brutal knee injury muted all of her dominant play. As she tried to extend the lead over Sydney, the WNBA star took a brutal fall and needed help off the court in the fourth quarter.
Although no updates on her health have been provided yet. Doctors expect the injury to be minor, and Sundell to make a swift comeback.

Such news would surely keep the Dallas Wings concerned. While Wings hold top odds for the draft, they would also want to build a young team around Paige Bueckers. And Sundell might be a key addition to the same. After all, before her injury, the Wings star delivered an outstanding performance.
How Did Serena Sundell Perform Against The Sydney Flames?
While her team won with a commanding lead of 17 points, the star of the night was undoubtedly Sundell. With her sublime play on display, the WNBA star dropped 20 points with six steals to help Adelaide cross the line.

Helping her ably was Sania Feagin, who chipped in with 18 points along with an impressive 7-from-9 shooting. Owing to Sundell and Feagin’s strong showing, the Lightning got an early lead of 24-14 in the very first quarter.
And from there on, it was the Sundell show all along. Thus, with the Wings’ star showing great promise, fans now wait to see how serious her injury is.
