The Seattle Storm is hanging by a thread at the moment. With their campaign going haywire every now and then, they are trying to cling to the final playoff spot. Unfortunately, in their recent game against the Atlanta Dream, the Storm lost 75-85. But while this was a sad affair, they also had a silver lining to take heart from, as Skylar Diggins-Smith made history.
In the booming scenario of the WNBA, several athletes have been actively contributing to make the league more and more attractive. And thankfully, Storm too, have stars in their ranks who have chipped in with some incredible statistics. Just the other day, it was Dominique Malonga making the headlines. And now, Diggins-Smith too, has attracted the limelight.
Skylar Diggins-Smith Shines Bright Amidst Storm’s Loss To Atlanta
The 35-year-old star had quite an unimpressive game playing against the Atlanta Dream recently. Trying her best to help her team go over the line, the WNBA veteran struggled. She dropped just seven points and dished out four assists. Now, such numbers might not look impressive at all. But for Diggins-Smith, it was the assists column that made all the difference.
According to reports, the 35-year-old has dropped at least three assists in 72 consecutive games. Surely, that is some significant statement when it comes to consistency. As a result of this feat, the Storm star now has the second-longest streak of its kind in WNBA history. And that is not all. Climbing up the ranks, the point guard has now surpassed the likes of Ticha Penicheiro and Teresa Weatherspoon, who are WNBA legends.
“Skylar Diggins recorded her 72nd consecutive game with at least 3 assists, passing Teresa Weatherspoon and Ticha Penicheiro for the second-longest such streak in WNBA history,” the post from the team’s PR official X (formerly Twitter) account read.

Surely, Diggins-Smith chipping in with her best has been the norm for Seattle this season. After they traded Jewell Lloyd, the onus has clearly been on the 35-year-old. And she must not feel complacent with her latest antics. In order to ensure a playoff spot, the star point guard needs to continue doing the good work. Otherwise, her team might just have to bow out for the season.
