The rookies are putting in solid performances in their first season. Kiki Iriafen had multiple double-doubles stats while Paige Bueckers set a record for most consecutive double-digit scoring games. Between these two 2025 draft picks, Sonia Citron also shone with double-double stats and high-scoring games.
The star broke Caitlin Clark’s incredible record in the recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks. The player had been very consistent throughout the season and leads the team in scoring.
Sonia Citron Breaks Caitlin Clark’s Rookie Record
The third overall draft pick in the 2025 WNBA draft was also one of the best guards in the class. The most reliable player and Rookie of the Year contender, as well as an All-American player, was the third overall draft pick. Stepping up to expectations, the 22-year-old was consistent with her game.

In the recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Notre Dame graduate scored 12 points in 26 minutes. Though her performance didn’t win the game for her team, she set a double-digit scoring record, breaking Caitlin Clark’s record set in 2024.
This was Citron’s 36th game with 10+ points this season, surpassing the Fever superstar for the most double-digit scoring games by a rookie in WNBA history.

Sonia Citron Could End Up Second Best Behind Paige Bueckers In ROY Accolade
If Paige Bueckers had not been in the same draft class, Citron would have been a sure winner for the Rookie of the Year title. However, the New York-born star led the young side to a better finish in the season. While the Dallas rookie could win the ROY award, Bueckers could attain an unwanted rookie history with the accolade.
With a solid three-point shooting percentage (nearly 44%) and free-throw conversion (88%), the rookie showed her scoring capabilities. The 2025 All-Star could have a bigger role in her second season with the Mystics.
The Mystics currently occupy the 10th position in the league standings and will hope for better results next season.
