Sonia Raman made history by becoming the first Indian-origin WNBA head coach. With the Seattle Storm seemingly unhappy with what Noelle Quinn did, they are going for a complete overhaul of the roster.
With the focus firmly set on Dominique Malonga, Raman will have a challenging task ahead. The newly appointed coach needs to decide whether she will have Malonga settle into a set team or build the team around the rookie star.
Meanwhile, after parting ways with Quinn, the Storm’s front office approached several big names. Unfortunately, the likes of Sandy Brondello turned down Seattle’s offer. And now, looking to make a lasting impact, Raman shared her vision.
Sonia Raman Wants To Lead The Way For Future Generations
Raman has been one of the shining stars of the female basketball realm. While this will be her debut stint as a WNBA head coach, she has decades of experience in the circuit.

“I am the first, but I don’t want to be the last. I’m doing my best so I can create these opportunities, open these doors or just allow this next generation to see what’s possible,” said Raman.
Well, as it appears, Raman surely does have a plan. And it will be quite interesting to see how well she can implement the same. Meanwhile, sharing her plans about the upcoming season, Raman vowed to keep it real.
Sonia Raman Wants To Keep Things Authentic
One of the major areas of concerns for the Seattle Storm was their defense. Multiple defensive lapses at crucial juncture resulted in the Storm losing the way this year.

Moreover, with almost all the veterans entering free agency, things will be tough for Raman initially. But as of now, she wants to keep things simple. Speaking about how she wants to approach the season, the Storm head coach said, “I’m just going to be me. I realize that it’s a whole different level. But, I think just relying on who I am as a person, being genuine, being authentic, and as they say, keeping the main thing the main thing is most important.”
