Sophie Cunningham is keeping the limelight to herself despite being out of the WNBA with an injury. Outside the basketball court, her inclination towards the Kansas City Chiefs is well-known. Only recently, Cunningham offered a reward to a Missouri football fan for a viral Kansas City moment. And now, as the NFL season gets underway, the Fever guard is all in, supporting the Chiefs. Sadly enough, things did not go according to her expectations in the first game.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the most formidable sides in the NFL. With a host of star power, the team is heavily favored to win the NFL title this season. However, as they began their journey on a sombre note, the Indiana Fever star did not hide her frustration.
Sophie Cunningham Unhappy With Kansas City Chiefs’ Performance
Travis Kelce and co. squared off against the Los Angeles Chargers in their opening game. Struggling to find their rhythm, the team fell short as the scoreline read 27-21. And like innumerable Kansas City fans, Cunningham, too, was shocked and frustrated with the poor showing. Speaking on the matter, the 29-year-old opened up about her thoughts to her co-host, West Wilson, in an episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast.

“You know what else is not spicy is our freaking (Kansas City) Chiefs losing in their first game. What the hell. “Yeah, dude. I watched every second of it. I was pissed… Our team (Fever) was also playing. We were winning, we were playing (the) Chicago (Sky),” said Cunningham.
She also detailed how, instead of watching her own team play, she was pretty much invested in the NFL game. Thankfully, as her own team clinched a dominant win against the Sky, the Chiefs had a disappointing outing. Meanwhile, coming back to the WNBA, the 29-year-old has been keeping a tab on all the latest happenings. And while Cunningham delivered her bold take on the Angel Reese controversy, she also detailed how nature shaped her life.

Sophie Cunningham Reflects On Her Bonding With Nature
Cunningham is known to be an aggressive player on the field. Ever since joining the Indiana Fever squad, her knack for protecting the likes of Caitlin Clark has had everyone’s attention. She earned the tag of an ‘enforcer’ for her aggression and even got a wrestling offer. Now, outside of the competitive realm, the Fever star seems to be quite different. In a recent segment on ‘Beyond Basketball with Sophie Cunningham,’ the former Mercury star stressed striking a balance outside the hardwood. The star guard also detailed how she had grown up in the lap of nature.

“I grew up riding horses, four wheelers, tractor rides, doing back roads… There’s just something about being out with nature [thatl just kind of resets you. It brings you peace,” said Cunningham.
Well, Cunninham can now surely use a little bit of nature to heal her fully. With the Fever in the playoffs, they still have a lot to play for this season. But when the team returns next season, a fully fit Cunningham will be a prized asset as the Fever aims for an injury-free run.
