Sophie Cunningham Reflects On Her Comments On Cathy Engelbert
During the recent episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, the Fever forward spoke about her comments on Caty Engelbert. The 29-year-old player called the WNBA commissioner a delusional leader and added that the people know her because of CC. She even mentioned that Engelbert shouldn’t have been the WNBA commissioner.

However, in a recent episode, the star expressed regret about her comment and acknowledged that she shouldn’t have used harsh language. She even added that she is not backing down from her words or criticism, but could have used her words more carefully.
“I think that — I’m not going back on what I said, but I might have been a little harsh on how I said it. But you know what? It’s also me. I can admit when I’m wrong. Just think what I said was valid and a lot of people agree with it, but maybe how I said it could’ve been better. I mean all of that, just maybe shouldn’t have cussed… I think when I cuss it makes it less — like, it’s uneducated,” Cunningham said

Sophie Cunningham Avoided Watching WNBA Finals
The Fever forward was not happy with the fact that her team missed out on the finals berth despite their heroic season and playoff run. She admitted that she is not watching the WNBA finals games. Cunningham blames referee decisions for the Indiana Fever’s semifinal loss to the Las Vegas Aces. But that was not the reason for avoiding the finals series.
She added that she needed a break from basketball and doesn’t care who lifts the trophy. She said that the increased level of toxic elements in the league is also tiring.
On the court, though, she has a big decision to make as the former Baylor standout will be an unrestricted free agent in the 2026 season and can sign with any franchise. But Caitlin Clark, her Fever teammate, is urging her to stay with the Fever for the upcoming season.
