There is a massive question mark over Caitlin Clark’s return. Fans expressed frustration over the Indiana Fever’s lack of updates regarding the player’s injury status. But they will be happy with Kelsey Mitchell’s offensive show during CC’s absence.
In the recent game against the Phoenix Mercury, the veteran guard scored 29 points against the defensively strong Phoenix Mercury team. Sophie Cunningham was quick to applaud the 29-year-old guard.
Sophie Cunningham Praises Kelsey Mitchell
In the last 10 games, KM averaged 23.1 points per game with five 25+ point games and two more 20+ point games. Her scoring spree earned her player of the Week accolade, which she later credited to her teammates. It also helped the side win four games and stay competitive for the playoff contention.

Taking over the strong defensive side, like the Phoenix Mercury, the three-time All-Star showed her scoring touch. She scored 29 points with 55 % shooting from the field. Looking at her elite scoring spree, Cunningham praised the guard mentioning that no one can guard her.
“no scheme, no player, NOTHING can guard Kelsey Mitchell this year,” Cunningham tweeted.

Her current offensive gameplay puts Mitchell in the MVP discussion, with A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Alyssa Thomas being other contenders for the accolade. But in order to take advantage of this high-scoring production, the Indiana Fever needs to provide defensive support to KM to qualify and make a strong run in the playoffs.
Sophie Cunningham Always Shows Support For Kelsey Mitchell’s Performances
This is not the first time that the 29-year-old forward has shown respect to the guard’s explosive scoring night. In the game against the Connecticut Sun, the Indiana Fever was on the verge of a shocking defeat when Cunningham got injured.
With the 55-point second-half burst, the Indiana Fever forced overtime at the Mohegan Sun Arena and ended up winning the game by eight points. Stephanie White’s primary scorer, Kelsey Mitchell, delivered a scintillating performance. She matched her career-high 38 points record. Her previous high-scoring game was against the Sun team only. The former Ohio State star was not happy with the win, though, and mentioned that it wasn’t a good defensive effort from the team.
Sophie Cunningham, out injured, shared a post hyping up the guard, which was her first post since the season-ending injury. While Cunningham will be out of the rotation, she will be backing her team every time she gets a chance.
