The Indiana Fever has been dealing with a lot. While many thought that Caitlin Clark’s injury might be the worst that could happen to them, the injuries kept on coming. And it also included their star guard, Sophie Cunningham. Suffering from an MCL injury, Cunningham’s sister lashed out at the WNBA officials. Sadly, that did not change the fact that she was ruled out of the entire season. And now, taking time off, the Fever star has revealed a new team she is with.
Cunningham’s impact on the team has been huge. Since joining the Fever earlier this season, the former Mercury star has climbed the performance ladder. Her absence surely means that the Fever will be a bit shorthanded in the playoffs.
Sophie Cunningham’s ‘New Team’ Is Not Something She Is Enjoying
Things have looked extremely bleak for the Fever star after August 17. A couple of days later, the latest update on Cunningham brought bad news. And thus, she will now have to spend quite a significant amount of time sitting on the sidelines. However, even in the face of despair, the 29-year-old does not forget to share some lighthearted moments.

The Fever guard is usually quite unfiltered with her opinions. But there are times when the playful side comes out as well. Likewise, in a recent Instagram reel, Cunningham could be spotted wearing a giant brace on her right knee. She was also walking with the help of Fever’s medical staff. Looking at the camera, the 29-year-old joked, “What’s up guys? This is my new team, the medical staff!”
Reposting the video, the official WNBA X, formerly known as the Twitter handle, posted, “Sophie got jokes. SophieCunningham’s keepin’ it light with the medical staff as the @IndianaFever start to arrive for today’s action in ATL.” Meanwhile, as the WNBA star continues her rehabilitation journey, Cunningham recently received a major honor.
