Sophie Cunningham might be a new addition to the Indiana Fever roster. But it cannot be denied that her leadership skills are phenomenal. Cunningham is leading the charge for WNBA players’ fair share of revenue. And let’s not forget how she had taken over the team’s leadership during the absence of Caitlin Clark. However, despite the 29-year-old’s sublime knack for getting along well with her teammates, the Fever locker room chemistry is something that has intrigued everyone.
In recent times, there have been a lot of instances of teams having problems within themselves. One of the biggest examples was when Angel Reese lashed out at her teammates following their dismal season. Speaking about the same, Cunningham reflected on what sets the Indiana Fever apart from the rest.
Sophie Cunningham Reveals Secret To Indiana Fever’s Successful Chemistry
The Indiana Fever had a lot to deal with this season. After playing only 13 games, the mainstay of their team, Caitlin Clark, got injured and was ruled out for the rest of the season. And that was not all. More injuries in the form of Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Cunningham herself depleted the squad further. Such a situation could have easily resulted in conflicts and tensions within the locker room.

Surprisingly, the Fever outfit looked like a well-oiled machine and played some impeccable basketball. They reached the semifinals and almost defeated the Las Vegas Aces to clinch a finals berth. In a recent episode of Cunningham’s ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, a fan asked her whether the Fever had any physical altercations in the locker room.
“Honestly, no. That never happens. Literally, never happens. And like, it barely happens on the court. I think probably what I did this year is that most that has been done in year. But yeah, that’s just not how we roll on our side,” Cunningham replied.

Sophie Cunningham Reveals Next Step After Her WNBA Retirement
Cunningham suffered a brutal injury to her knees at the halfway stage of the league. But by then, she had already played 30 games and established herself as a primary star for the Fever squad. And while fans are expecting her to make a strong comeback, the 29-year-old is already planning for her retirement.

In a recent episode of her ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, the Fever guard stated that there are still eight to ten years left for her to retire. But once she does, there are a host of activities that she could spare her time on.
“I would love to coach, but I also think I want to get married and I want to have a family. The life of coaching is not so ideal for all that. So there’s that. I’d love to do broadcast. I would love to be in the entertainment space. So, who knows?” said Cunningham.
Well, a depleted Indiana Fever almost reached the finals this year. Now, it will be interesting to see how a full-fledged squad will perform in the next season.
