And Sophie Cunningham knows a thing or two about the growing physicality in the league. Though Cunningham blames referees at times for tough losses, rest, she’s fine with it.
While some critics argue that the game should be “cleaner” or “less aggressive,” players within the league insist that physicality is just a natural part of basketball.
Sophie Cunningham Has One Advice For Young Hoop Fans
Even before she came to the Fever, Cunningham was still making a name for herself. However, her time in Indiana has only added to her actual personality on the court.

Cunningham even earned the enforcer tag and cashed out in the best possible way. In a recent segment on her podcast, the superstar guard offered one piece of advice to young girls trying to make it to the league.
“I think the league is very physical. And I think it needs to be that way. Like, I’m all for that. I think that’s part of being a pro. It’s about being at the next level, it’s about being around elite-level athletes,” Cunningham said.

“And it’s awesome to see strong women being able to play physical. And showing young boys, young girls that it’s okay to work hard, to sweat, to be physical, but also to enjoy what you do and love what you do,” she added.
While she was all in for however hard one could push her opponent on the court, Sophie “think that when it comes to maybe the physicality around the league, maybe it was a little too much.” However, the next season for sure would be a lot different than the one that went by.

While Cunningham continues to be a strong voice in public discussions, she’s also staying active during a busy offseason.
Beyond her work with the Fever, she’s been involved in several public appearances, including one that unexpectedly went viral.
Cunningham went viral with actress Sydney Sweeney at a NASCAR event, and the clip of the two interacting took social media by storm.
Cunningham later laughed about the moment, calling the experience a “blast” and admitting she didn’t expect the video to gain the traction it did.
