Angel Reese’s comments are still the hot topic in the WNBA, with many analysts, sports personalities, and past and active players giving their views on the players. Very few, like NFL star LeSean McCoy, showed their support to Reese, but with advice to the star in their final words.
Fever star Sophie Cunningham also chimed in with her view. While Chi-Town Barbie’s ‘blunt’ nature might be a problem, here is what another ‘sassy’ personality has to say about the Sky forwards’ ongoing saga.
Sophie Cunningham Delivers Honest Opinion On Angel Reese’s Controversy
The 2024 rookie has a podcast – Unapologetically Angel, where she speaks openly about her views on the ongoing and future events, games, and plays. While she had been very blunt about many topics – like WNBA pays, roster sizes, and schedules on the podcast, her recent ‘harsh’ comments about her teammates didn’t go well.

‘Unapologetic’ Angel had to apologize to her teammates after backlash from the locker room. Similar to the 23-year-old forward, the Fever player Sophie Cunningham has a podcast – Show Me Something, where her unfiltered takes are popular. Cunningham praised Reese’s impact on the WNBA in her podcast and now addressed the Sky player’s situation.
“No, that’s not great. I get when you’re losing and it’s been a frustrating season, everyone is feeling those emotions. And when I say everyone, it’s not just her. I’m sure her teammates feel it, her coaches feel it, the organization, the fans — literally everyone feels that. There’s some things that you can’t say. I think one of my biggest things is I’m a very team-first person. I always put the team before my feelings, and I think that should be a standard,” Cunningham said on the podcast.

She added that the players should look after the locker room and avoid saying everything, as it looks bad. While the 29-year-old forward is also famous for her ‘sassy’ posts and comments, she never spoke disrespectfully about her teammates and now advises the former LSU star to maintain the ‘standard’.
Angel Reese To Leave The Chicago Sky
The superstar’s situation at the Windy City franchise is not very pleasing, and many suggest that it would be better for her career if she moved away from the franchise before things get uglier. A WNBA executive even suggests the player request a trade if the front office decides to stick with her.
“She needs to get the hell out of there. Chicago is probably the worst-run organization in the league. You’re gonna suspend your best player just because she’s putting pressure on you to get better? That was embarrassing to see,” the WNBA exec told DallasHoopsJournal.
The backlash from teammates and suspension from the management just hint at a time to pack her bags and start fresh with another team for her career. Either way, Reese might not complete her rookie contract with the Sky.
