Sophie Cunningham is currently nursing her injury on the sidelines. With her team struggling to find a spot in the playoffs, the 29-year-old is finding it hard to control herself. Thankfully, for the fans, Cunningham has teased an early injury return. But that, too, might not happen until the next season. Meanwhile, with the team plagued by injuries, a recent Caitlin Clark criticism from Skip Bayless did not sit well with Cunningham.
The Fever guard replied harshly, and Bayless rebuked her further. What’s more? The American sports columnist and commentator even called her a ‘clout chaser.’ And that is exactly when things got serious.
Sophie Cunningham Reverses ‘Clout Chaser’ Accusations On Skip Bayless
Cunningham is always known for her unfiltered takes on matters. And when it came to the recent fiasco with Bayless, the 29-year-old did not hesitate to do the same. In the latest episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, the Fever star lashed out at the sports commentator. She accused him of using her name in one of his articles as clickbait for the audience to generate more clicks.

“Dude, Skip, who’s the cloud chaser? You’re literally using my name as your headline so people can click on it. I’m just kind of in my lane and someone sent it to me, and I was like, ‘What is this?’ He’s calling me a clout chaser, dude, you’re the one who has my name plastered all over your YouTube that had 36 views, like get out of here,” said Cunningham.

Continuing further with her statement, Cunningham clarified that she had no enmity with Bayless. In fact, she claimed to have never listened to Bayless’ commentary. Surely, this was quite a harsh reply from the Fever star. Bayless accused Cunningham of riding Caitlin Clark’s fame wave and has now gotten a fitting reply. Meanwhile, sitting on the sidelines for too long, Cunningham recently dropped an honest reaction.

Sophie Cunningham Makes Feelings Known After Spending Time On The Bench
Sitting on the bench for a long time is never a viable option for an athlete. And that is exactly the case with Cunningham. Joining the Fever early this year, the 29-year-old immediately had a great bonding with her teammates. By becoming close friends with Clark, the Fever guard soon became a fan favorite. However, not only her off-court antics, but her aggressive playing style on the hardwood, too, made Cunningham a star in the making.

Unfortunately, after suffering an MCL injury, the Fever star now has to sit on the sidelines. And she is not happy with the same. “Is it always this stressful being a fan? I can’t take it… can’t sit still,” wrote Cunningham on her X, formerly known as Twitter account.
Thus, with things looking complicated, fans now wait to see what happens next. And whether Bayless replies further will be another prospect to watch out for.
