It has been fifteen months since the likes of Sophie Cunningham, and more are asking for equal pay. Sadly, even after the trade deadline was pushed back thrice, the WNBA failed to come up with a CBA deal. Things further escalated when the WNBPA decided to meet face-to-face with Cathy Engelbert and co.
Unfortunately, as per the reports, the WNBA did not come prepared with a fresh deal. Thus, nothing fruitful came out of it. Thankfully, days after the meeting, the WNBA did propose a new contract. And while the negotiations are still ongoing, Cunningham sent a stern warning to the league.

Sophie Cunningham Wants Things To Sort Out Soon
Cunningham has always been known for her unfiltered takes on the matter. After all, who can forget when she lashed out at the WNBA officials despite being fined for the same? Now, turning her attention towards, WNBA, the Indiana Fever guard finds it frustrating that a CBA deal is not yet on the table.
Speaking on an episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, Cunningham stated, “If we’re going to have a season, it has to happen within the next month of coming to an agreement. Otherwise, it’s going to be a lockout or a strike. Which is insane. The next couple weeks, we have a CBA meeting coming up at either the end of this week or upcoming. So we’ll have more to talk about.”
Cunningham also pointed out how WNBA’s rivals, like those of Unrivaled and Project B, are surging ahead of them at the moment. Meanwhile, in yet another bold take, Cunningham recently bypassed the Indiana Fever.

Sophie Cunningham Bypasses Indiana Fever Ownership In Crucial Topic

As the WNBA-CBA situation grows more complicated, team owners must support the players. In a prior episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, co-host West Wilson asked the Fever star about WNBA owners. Interestingly, while Cunningham praises teams like New York, Phoenix, and Seattle, she surprisingly did not mention Indiana.
“Yeah. I feel like at the front line, owners who are most involved, I would say right now, would be New York, Seattle, and Phoenix. They have the funds… And they’re awesome. Their ownerships are completely awesome; they’re very player-first. They know that maybe you’re gonna lose a little money on the front end, but you’ll get it back if you invest,” said Cunningham.
Thus, with things looking dark for the WNBA, fans will wait to see what happens next.
