Sophie Cunningham is usually popular for being a top Indiana Fever prospect. However, owing to her physical play, Cunningham can now play a potential heel in professional wrestling. With the 28-year-old making merry this season, her physicality has been the mainstay.
Oftentimes, it is Cunningham who is spotted protecting Caitlin Clark from the opponent. And while she has been involved in several controversial fouls, she has been offered the role of a wrestler. And Lakers’ team governor, Jeanie Buss too, has supported the idea.
Jeanie Buss Wants Sophie Cunningham In WOW
Initially, it was the founder of Women of Wrestling, David McLane. Spotting Cunningham’s intentions on the hardwood, McLane tagged the Fever guard as an ‘enforcer’ for Clark. Next up, he also came up with the idea of putting Cunningham inside a wrestling ring.
And now, doubling down on the idea further is none other than the Los Angeles Lakers’ boss, Jeanie Buss. Taking to her X (formerly Twitter), Buss reposted McLane’s proposal as published by ‘The Mirror.’
Buss then went on to write, “We would love to have @SophieCunning5 join us at @wowsuperheroes she is talented, dedicated and a fierce competitor!!”

Now, all of the noise about Cunningham gained limelight after their game against the Connecticut Sun. Back in June, Sun’s Jacy Sheldon guarded Caitlin Clark heavily during the game. The duo also shared some heated moments between themselves. And Cunningham noted all of this minutely. Moments later, the 28-year-old made a hard foul on Sheldon that sent her crashing down on the hardwood.

While the officials ejected Cunningham, her action was perceived as her own brand of justice. Meanwhile, sitting on the sidelines, Cunningham recently had one of her fouls receive a standing ovation from Caitlin Clark.
Caitlin Clark Applauds Sophie Cunningham’s Foul
Caitlin Clark was sitting courtside as the Fever clashed with the Chicago Sky. But the 28-year-old made sure that she soaked in all the heat. In the initial phases of the final quarter, Michaela Onyenwere attempted a layup past Cunningham. But breaking Cunningham’s defense is not an easy feat.

While the 28-year-old thwarted the attack, they pounced for the loose ball and had a clash. This made the situation tense, and both Cunningham and Michaela Onyenwere seen shoving each other in a heated moment that added tension to the WNBA showdown. And looking at Cunningham’s attitude, Clark stood up and cheered loudly for her teammate.
