Well, Cunningham committed a lot of fouls last season. The situation escalated so much that officials fined her $500 for publicly calling out the referees on social media. Unfortunately, she did not stop there.
However, enraged with how the WNBA front office fined her, she further lashed out in an episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast. And this led her to get fined even heftily, with a $1500 amount. Meanwhile, trying to focus on the upcoming season, Cunningham recently had a grim prediction.
Sophie Cunningham Uncertain About The 2026 Season
The CBA negotiations have fallen apart as of now. With the deadline expiring three times now, the impending threat of a work stoppage is looking like a possibility. On top of that, leagues like the Unrivaled and Project B are gaining widespread attention at the moment.

Thus, predicting a tough time ahead for the WNBA, Cunningham stated, “I know our execs are talking with their people every single day. I don’t think there’s been much movement. I think at least there’s communication. So that’s the biggest thing for us. But, normally we don’t have meetings unless something big is happening or if they need to update us on what they’re talking about,” Cunningham told FOS.
