Sophie Cunningham has quickly become a fan favorite at the Indiana Fever. While she has only joined the team this year, one of the main reasons for her popularity is undoubtedly her aggressive nature. Playing on the field, the 29-year-old is never shy about defending her own teammates, even if it means getting involved physically. However, fans often criticize her aggressive play.
And when one such fan tried to lash out, the Fever guard immediately clapped back.
Sophie Cunningham recently received a wrestling offer after getting the ‘enforcer’ tag. But all the noises did not tone her down on her playing style. Currently, while she is nursing her knee, the former Missouri star’s reply to a fan has taken the internet by storm.
Sophie Cunningham Shuts Down Fan Trying To Get On Her Nerves
Cunningham recently had a hard fall against the Connecticut Sun. Tussling for the ball with Bria Hartley, Cunningham went down on the ground and looked in significant pain. The injury looked serious as staff carried the 29-year-old off the court, and she did not return to the game.
Following the incident, Sophie Cunningham’s sister took to social media and called the WNBA officiating “pathetic.” And such an outburst seems to have ticked off some fans. Soon after Lindsey Cunningham’s post, a WNBA fan posted a video of the Fever star’s altercation with Jacy Sheldon earlier in the season. The clip showed how Cunningham had a tussle with Sheldon, as the latter went to the ground. The situation quickly escalated as athletes from both teams jumped in.
The fan intended to point out that Cunningham herself was not a safe player to work with, either. Well, the post caught Cunningham’s eye, and soon, she responded to it.
“… some of us were raised by the words of ‘don’t bite off more than you can chew’ and some of us didn’t. ‘fafo'” 😘,” wrote the 29-year-old on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Surely, this incident once again proved that the Fever guard will not back down from her unfiltered self. Even in the face of injury, she would stick to her stand. Speaking about her injury, a sports doctor recently had some bad news about the Indiana Fever.
Doctor Makes Grim Prediction For Sophie Cunningham’s Injury
Cunningham left the entire Indiana fan base concerned. Leaving the court with assistance, she did not come back to the game. Naturally, the fans speculated the worst. After so many injuries, the loss of the 29-year-old would be a massive blow. And sports doctor Brian Sutterer hinted at a possible ACL tear.

“We can see a forced valgus load, where a player falls into the outside of their knee, pushes it inward, and that can cause enough stress to tear the ACL. I’ll admit, just the impact and the positioning of her leg, to me, did not look quite as significant for something like this,” said Sutterer.
Surely, there are some grim predictions. However, Sophie Cunningham is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. And the fans are eagerly waiting for a positive update from the scans.
