While she has been out of the playing roster for some time, Cunningham recently dropped an emotional three-word message. It has to be a real feeling for someone who’s out and about defending her team along with Caitlin Clark. With time flying by, Soph is teasing an earlier-than-expected return from her injury.

However, just weeks after surgery, her playful vibe has injected a positive hope for her rapid return. Though Cunningham’s season ended abruptly during a 99-93 overtime win against the Connecticut Sun. She crumpled on the floor right after an unfortunate collision with Bria Hartley.
Right after it, her teammates and team staff had to carry her to the locker room. Later, she was unfortunately ruled out for the year after an MCL tear diagnosis. Despite the setback, the 28-year-old has stayed in the spotlight with her cheeky social media antics.
Sophie Cunningham’s Impressive Season Cut Short With Injury

Despite all this, Cunningham won over Fever fans in her first season with Indiana after five years with the Phoenix Mercury. In addition to her off-court antics, she is averaging well above 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 30 games. That said, she stepped up in multiple backcourt roles amid injuries to stars like Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson.
Additionally, her standout moment came early in the season when she fiercely defended Clark against the Sun, earning the ‘enforcer’ nickname from fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. And while it all looked like a dream WNBA season, an injury cut short the very impressive run.
