The WNBA is being plagued by the ongoing CBA talks. As the WNBA and WNBPA clash over the revenue-sharing percentages, the current scenario is not at all entertaining. Now then, with so many uncertainties going on, the possibility of a work stoppage in the future is becoming evident.
Now then, while the WNBA is looking murky, there have been several leagues trying to get in on the action. And one such league that has made the headlines is Project B. The Saudi-backed league has been roping in WNBA players, which has led WNBA executives to express concerns.
Now, with Sophie Cunningham being the latest big name to join Project B, she also teased a possible farewell from the WNBA in the near future.

Sophie Cunningham To Ditch WNBA For Project B?
Analysts rate Cunningham as one of the top prospects in the WNBA. With the Fever stat showing her mettle last year, this year too, she is supposed to deliver some A-grade performance. Now then, before the upcoming WNBA season has started, Cunningham has already decided to join hands with Project B.
And she is not hiding her biggest motivation to join the same. In a recent episode of her ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, Cunningham pointed out that the league was paying a lot of money. Continuing further with her statement, the Fever star detailed that she might be leaving the WNBA if things get better with Project B.
“You just get cultured, it’s fun. And I’ve missed it, but I also don’t want to play around. My body can’t handle it. I have other things I want to do that I’m interested in, and so this just gives me the perfect opportunity to go play, get cultured, see the world, but also be able to come home and still experience what I want to experience,” said Cunningham.

Surely, such a statement is not a good advertisement for the WNBA. And this is not the first time that Cunningham has spoken about the WNBA’s grim future.
Sophie Cunningham Details Grim WNBA Future
The WNBA is coming up with contract offers. But unfortunately, the league either rejects their proposals or counters them. And this back and forth has created a lot of tension among the players. They are now uncertain about what will happen in the future.

Speaking about the same, Cunningham told Front Office Sports, “I know our execs are talking with their people every single day. I don’t think there’s been much movement. I think at least there’s communication. So that’s the biggest thing for us. But, normally we don’t have meetings unless something big is happening or if they need to update us on what they’re talking about.”
