On Wednesday, a gunman killed two children and injured 17 while they attended Mass at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. The gunman reportedly opened fire and later took his own life. Cunningham took to social media to express her grief over the heartbreaking incident.

US citizens are horrified by the tragedy, and Cunninham was certainly unhappy with the tragic news. Apart from Cunningham, the Minnesota Lynx coach, Cheryl Reeve, condemned the shooting in Minneapolis.

Cunningham underwent her surgery and shared positive news from doctors. While she’s still on painkillers to ease the pain, Cunninham stated that she feels good and her knees are looking better.

The 29-year-old played a crucial role for the Indiana Fever. Her exit has cost the team as they continue to fight for the playoffs. At present, the team is clinging to the eighth playoff seed, and things have not been easy without Sophie Cunningham. The franchise was forced to bring in veteran point guard Shey Peddy in Cunningham’s absence.
Despite the promising news, Cunningham has no timetable for her return. The Fever star must recover and probably go for rehab sessions. Cunningham’s injury was not an easy one. In most cases, the recovery period is around 12 months. Luckily, Cunningham is expected to recover quickly.
Cunningham will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2025 WNBA season. The guard signed a one-year deal with the Fever, and the franchise is likely to retain her.
