The Phoenix Mercury icon had set many records, and her on-court presence was equally impactful. She retired at the end of the 2024 season. She will have a documentary giving fans a closer look at her journey.
In her Instagram post, the 43-year-old shared a few pictures that provide a glimpse of the basketball journey from her college life. She also announced the documentary and why fans should watch it.
“Retirement reminded me: it was never just about basketball. It was about the people — those who I had the privilege to compete with. Every step of the journey was built on shared belief, sacrifice, and love,” Taurasi wrote in her Instagram post.
The emotional post ended with her announcement about the idea behind her documentary. The player spent four seasons with UConn and 20 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury teams, winning multiple titles. She also represented the Team USA at international level and won six gold and three world championships at the senior level.

Many UConn players, including Paige Bueckers, liked the post. Her former teammate, Sophie Cunningham, commented on the post and wrote, “the BEST” with a heart emoji.

Geno Auriemma’s daughter, Alysaa Auriemma, called DT her “Big Sis” in the comments.
The Phoenix Mercury’s Director of Basketball Operations, Kyra Vidas, wrote, “The BEST. Cannot wait. We Love you.”
