The Indiana Fever in 2024 made a playoff push in the second half of the season. The story continued in the 2025 season too. The only difference this time is that the team is doing it without their superstar player, Caitlin Clark. While this is an encouraging sign for any coach, Stephanie White saw some flaws in their recent win.
In the postgame interview, the coach highlighted a mistake that the team made during the game at the American Airlines Arena. With the postseason approaching, she needed her team to be perfect in execution.
Stephanie White Finds Flaws In Win Over Dallas Wings
Kelsey Mitchell and Co. delivered an offensive outing against the Dallas Wings. They were also able to hold up the opposing team’s top offensive players below 15 points limiting them to just 78 points in front of their home crowd. While it was an impressive win, particularly with CC out of the rotation, the 48-year-old coach was not happy with some of the points.
“I didn’t feel like we played particularly well tonight. But, you know, finding ways to get wins, and that’s going on some scoring bursts, that’s being able to rely on multiple players getting stops when needed, making adjustments and continuing to grow. I mean, this is a group that’s been resilient all season long,” HC White said in the postgame interview. (Via YouTube/IndianaFever)
The side gave away 16 fouls, resulting in 25 free throws. There were 19 turnovers in the game, leading to 13 points for the Texas franchise. The coach mentioned these flaws in her assessment and added that players were a bit late on their defensive positioning.
Yet the proud coach congratulated the side for the win and the efforts put in to overcome the shortcomings. The Fever now moves up to fifth place with a 16-12 record following their season high four-game winning run.

Stephanie White Calls For Mental Strength From Players
The 2012 WNBA champions will now play against the Seattle Storm next on August 3. They will finish their road trip with a game against the Phoenix Mercury on August 7. That’s three games in five days, taking a toll on players’ physical conditioning.

To counter that, the HC asked for mental strength to perform at the highest level against top teams in the league. She mentioned that players will not have long practice days during this period. But the side will receive more mental training to prepare for the games.
While Caitlin Clark has not played in the last five games, her return is still in doubt. If the star guard returns during this stretch period, it could be a major boost for the side mentally, emotionally, and physically.
