Stephanie White, when she returned to the Indiana Fever for the HC position, had little idea about what she was getting into with all the cameras on one franchise and its star player, Caitlin Clark, to catch every bit of information. However, living it for the whole season was a massive challenge that the Fever team and White just accomplished in the 2025 season.
While Sophie Cunningham labeled her teammate the face of the WNBA, HC White called the 2024 rookie, ‘Taylor Swift 2.0,’ looking at her popularity. She was in conversation with Chloe Peterson, a Fever insider, where she spoke at length about the former Iowa star.
Stephanie White Refer Caitlin Clark As ‘Taylor Swift 2.0’
The 2025 Indiana Fever was one of the favorites to lift the title, particularly because of the addition of veteran players and an experienced coach. Stephanie White was part of the 2012 championship coaching staff and would have just won the WNBA title had her playmaker stayed healthy. But even with her injury, White understood the gravity of the CC as she spoke on the new podcast by Fever Insider Chloe Peterson.

“It literally is like Taylor Swift 2.0, and because of that, her name gets thrown into a lot of conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with her, or her interests, or our team or sport, or whatever. And she is a 23-year-old kid who loves to play this game, who loves her teammates, who loves to compete, you know, at a high level,” White told Chloe Peterson on her podcast.
According to the data, the Fever star was responsible for one-sixth of the WNBA’s ticket sales during her rookie season, which saw a massive surge in viewership and attendance. The numbers and stats speak for themselves, putting the 23-year-old at the top of the chart for the most influential player in the WNBA, which once again highlights the Fever HC’s point, where she compared the WNBA star to LeBron James and Serena Williams, too.
Fever coach Stephanie White likened Caitlin Clark & her fame to Taylor Swift. White, who recently said she believed Clark was “a pawn in other people’s games,” went on to say: “Her name grabs attention. Her name is clickbait.”

However, there are some issues that the 49-year-old coach didn’t like. Recently, White criticized the use of Clark’s name in WNBA CBA negotiations, as she believes they are using her player as a “pawn in others’ games.”
For the star, she is focusing on her game and is now recovering from the injury. To get away from the WNBA noise, she will participate in a golf tournament, too.
Caitlin Clark To Take Her Golf Skills To Next Level
While CC is ruling the basketball court, she is also taking her talents to the golf course. The sport is one of her favorite games, allowing her to relax a bit, as per her interview with ‘People’ magazine. Now in 2025, she will participate in the Pro-Am at The Annika on November 12.
While the star played in the event last season, this year she will have an NCAA Champion, Lauryn Nguyen, as her partner. The two-time All-Star invited her via Zoom call, which the reigning champion accepted gracefully.
“I’m speechless. This is so amazing that I will be able to start my professional career playing in a pro-am with Caitlin Clark in a tournament named in honor of Annika (Sorenstam),” Nguyen said after the call.
Caitlin Clark reportedly generated 34.3 million impressions on her LPGA pro-am debut in 2024. Now, with the national champion beside her, she will look to shatter those records and surpass last season’s performance.
