For the toughest matchups, teams need their best players on the floor. Sadly, that’s not the case for the Indiana Fever, who missed Caitlin Clark for nearly half their season due to multiple injuries. The team fared well without her. But now, with almost half of the season gone, there is no room for error.
The star went through a rigorous rehab process and missed the All-Star weekend. While everyone is looking for updates on her fitness, HC Stephanie White talked about CC’s possible return in a recent interview after the team practice.

The 2024 rookie gave an update on her rehab during the All-Star break. The star confirmed that she will be on track again after the All-Star break, meaning the recovery process is still incomplete. Still, when the 47-year-old coach was asked about the guard’s return, she put it on the medical staff.
“No updates. I think she’s meeting with some doctors today and tomorrow. So no updates in addition to yesterday. And I don’t presume to give any times. It’s whatever the medical staff says. That’s what I go by,” White told the interviewer (Via YT/IndianaFever).
A day before, the former Sun coach mentioned that the superstar rookie would undergo medical checkups again and meet with the doctors. With the top playmaker out of the equation, the Fever players will have to put in extra effort to register a win against the defending champions.
The NY side has won two out of three games against the Indiana franchise this season. The Iowa guard missed their recent matchup before the ASG. The Barclays Center will host the Liberty vs. Fever game on July 22.

HC Suggests ‘Consistency’ As Key To Success For Caitlin Clark And Team In Remainder Of Season
This season, the 2012 WNBA Champions‘ fate will not be decided only by the game against the Liberty. They still have 21 more games remaining in the season and will look to win most of them to secure a place in the playoffs. After 23 games, the side has a 12-11 record and is in sixth place, just .5 games ahead of the eighth-seeded LV Aces.

For the second half of the season, the head coach is looking for consistency from her players.
“I think the biggest thing is just we know what it’s going to take. And we’ve got to be able to do that on a daily basis. We’ve got to continue to grow. We’ve got to understand that there’s going to be disruption, and we’ve got to be able to handle that, which I think they’ve done a good job of,” White told the press (Via YT/@IndianaFever).
Her team has lost many close games this season by three points or less. The coach wants to turn those losses into wins to improve the league ranking. She also insisted on putting in more effort on the defensive end to win games.
