Once again, the Indiana Fever looks like a champion team. Clashing with the Connecticut Sun, the Fever emerged victorious with a 99-93 scoreline. This was indeed a much-needed victory for the team. Trying to push for the playoffs without a definite return timeline for Caitlin Clark, the win will do them a world of good. And while the athletes and fans celebrated the triumph, head coach Stephanie White made her voice heard.
It was a challenging game for the Fever. Having succumbed to a couple of losses previously, the playoff equation looked a bit complicated. And with the team trailing for most of the time in the game, such a victory was bound to make White emotional.
Stephanie White Delivers Emotional Speech After Indiana Fever Get Back To Winning Ways
The Indiana Fever struggled right from the start. Apart from initially taking a 4-3 lead, things looked quite bleak for the team. And at one point, Indiana was down by more than twenty. Early in the third quarter, the Fever had a deficit of 21 points to take care of. Well, not only did they make up for the lost points, but the team also did a miraculous job of turning the game on its head and walking out with a victory. And all this happened thanks to Kelsey Mitchell, who was the star of the show with 38 points, sealing the fate of the game.
Looking at her girls shine bright, White had an emotional reaction. At the press conference after the game, the Fever HC stated that some things just cannot be taught while training. She further stressed that the athletes have something within them that makes them perform exceptionally well in tough situations.
“(These players) have something inside of them that you just can’t teach. They bring it out in each other and it allows us to get through these incredibly tough times. It gives us a chance. I’m so incredibly proud of them for continuing to believe,” said White.

Surely, motivating her players has been a signature virtue of the Fever HC. In an earlier game against the Chicago Sky, Stephanie White delivered a passionate postgame speech to lift the team’s morale. Unfortunately, despite the big win, everything was not okay with the Fever. In the most tragic manner, they had Sophie Cunningham bow out with an injury.

Stephanie White Shows Concerns After Nasty Sophie Cunningham Injury
The last thing the Indiana Fever wanted was another injury. And that is precisely what transpired in their game against the Connecticut Sun. Clashing hard with Bria Hartley, Sophie Cunningham tumbled onto the floor. And as she looked in significant pain, the 28-year-old was carried away by the officials. While Cunningham is scheduled for an MRI on Monday, White looked utterly concerned about her prized guard.

“Holy s**t. At the time, it’s like, ‘crap.’ Then you go down there, see her, and the focus shifts to calming her down and problem-solving,” said White as quoted by Marca.
White also pointed out that the manner in which Cunningham fell seemed quite scary. Thus, with a 19-16 record and an injury to deal with, Indiana’s coming days will surely be eventful.
