The Indiana Fever making merry of late is no surprise. But what is surprising, though, is the manner in which the team is evolving. Playing against the Seattle Storm, the Fever found it difficult right from the start. And when the chips looked down, it was a spirited Kelsey Mitchell who held it together.
Storm had a late surge that put a lot of pressure on the Fever outfit. But in the face of sustained pressure, the ability of the Indiana players to show grit and resilience made the win ever so impressive. And Stephanie White ensured that she did not forget to cheer her girls up after the gruelling display.
Kelsey Mitchell Gets A Token Of Appreciation From Stephanie White
Natasha Howard and Sophie Cunningham led the way with 21 and 17 points each. However, despite having a tough time, Mitchell refused to give up. She displayed some impressive gameplay down the stretch. And also helped the team surge ahead in the clutch.
Soon after the victory, the Indiana coach Stephanie White stormed inside the locker room. White appeared to be quite excited as she delivered a hyped-up pep talk for her girls. While she acknowledged how tough the game was, White also appreciated her team significantly for their efforts. In the middle of her speech, the Fever coach also took time out to call out Mitchell.
“I’m really proud of you guys,” White said. “There were so many ways in a close game and in game situations where we grew today that were huge for us y’all. Everybody contributed. Everybody contributed and gave us a lift. Kels, I know it’s a tough (expletive) shooting day, but the way you facilitated and that one big jumper you made.”
This was certainly a major morale booster for Mitchell. The 29-year-old could be seen acknowledging the praises as the entire locker room broke out in cheers. Earlier, the three-time All-Star managed to shoot 3-of-16 overall. However, this would be considered a rare off-day for Mitchell.

Kelsey Mitchell Hits Rare Franchise History Against Chicago Sky
The 29-year-old has been averaging 19.6 points per game. And playing against the Chicago Sky, Mitchell once again proved why she is one of the best. While the Fever ensured a 93-78 victory, Mitchell scored an impressive 35.

And with it, she drew level with Caitlin Clark. Mitchell became only the second Fever player in history to score 35 points. Thus, with Mitchell continuing to bloom, one bad game will surely not hurt her surge. And the pep talk from White was indeed a much-needed push for the 29-year-old.
