The Caitlin Clark situation has kept the WNBA on its toes. After a fantastic season last year, Clark was eager to flex her hooping muscles further this year. Unfortunately, after only playing 13 games, the 23-year-old had to resort to the sidelines. And it has been a long wait since. Frustrated with the situation, the Fever star spoke about the tough challenges she has been facing. And now, head coach Stephanie White has further stressed how badly the 23-year-old wants to come back.
The former Iowa star has missed 20 games this season so far. And with the playoffs coming in, Clark is itching to get back into the mix. But according to White, while Clark’s mindset is right, she will have to continue with her frustrating stay on the bench for a while now.
Stephanie White Comes Up With More Details On Caitlin Clark’s Mindset
Clark has been working on her rehab for over a month. Throughout the process, White has been the one everyone has been questioning. Unfortunately, every time, the Fever head coach has had to come up with some grim updates. Meanwhile, on Thursday, White had some insights to deliver on the 23-year-old.

The Fever head coach stated that the time on the bench for Clark has been utterly frustrating. While the 2024 Rookie of the Year is eager to compete, her groin injury is taking a lot of time to recover. White also pointed out how such frustrating injuries affect the mindsets of the athletes significantly.
“It’s been really frustrating. I mean, Caitlin wants to play, you know, she’s a competitor. She just wants to be on the floor. She just wants to play basketball. She’s in the mindset that she’s hungry, right, that she wants to be out there, and she wants to be with her team, and she’s working her butt off to get back in those situations. I think each time you have a tweak, or each time you have something else, it’s frustrating,” said White to Chloe Peterson as quoted by Indystar.
When asked if there’s an update on Caitlin Clark, Stephanie White said “Until she can get into practice, and until you guys see her in practice, it's really status quo, same as same as we have been.”

This is indeed quite a tricky situation for the team. However, they have won a cracker of a game against the Connecticut Sun. Still, a lot of hard work is left to be done. Fever next faces off against the table toppers, the Minnesota Lynx. And under such conditions, Clark’s inclusion in the team becomes of utmost importance. Meanwhile, to further make the fans tense, the 23-year-old star had another injury scare during her rehab.
Caitlin Clark Reportedly Suffered Ankle Injury During Rehab
Clark and injuries become quite synonymous, it seems. While she is still not over one, another significant injury scare has now taken over the internet, as per reports from Scott Agnes and Chloe Peterson on X, the Fever star bruised her ankle back on August 7. The entire situation reportedly took place after the face of the WNBA was undergoing rehabilitation.

“Sources confirm to me that Caitlin Clark suffered a “very mild” bone bruise in her left ankle on Aug. 7. @ScottAgness first,” wrote Peterson.
Naturally, shivers went down the fans’ spines. They immediately started to speculate whether the injury would further dent Clark’s chances of coming back. However, there is good news. The injury is said to be minor. And while the Fever phenom will receive treatment, her ankle will not hamper or delay her return to the WNBA.
