With injuries to star players, including starters like Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, the Indiana Fever relied on veteran players, given the time to fine-tune the strategies. Even though the team found success with Aari McDonald and Chloe Bibby, injuries to both stars forced them to sign players like Shey Peddy and Aerial Powers to fill in the void.
Peddy came off the bench and was clinical with her performance in her first-ever Fever game. HC also praised the star for quick adjustment.
Stephanie White Praises Shey Peddy
While the Fever head coach talked about the franchise’s way of player selection for hardship contracts or permanent signings, she seemed very happy with the 36-year-old guard. Even though the star had limited opportunities in the league, the franchise took the star for her shooting accuracy and passing abilities.

She shot around 42% from the field and 39% from the range, making her a suitable star in the Fever setup. When asked about her performance against the Lynx, the 48-year-old had nothing but praise for the veteran guard.
“She’s experienced, she’s stayed ready. Getting opportunities, especially when you’re on the floor with Kelsey and AB, working together, and opening things up. She’s been shot ready, and she’s knocked down some big ones for us,” White said in the post-game interview.

Interestingly, the 2012 rookie joined the team five days ago and played in just two games, both against the Lynx, and averages 14 points in 20 minutes of gameplay. Peddy’s contract will expire after the Fever vs Stom game on August 26. By then, the front office will get a clear idea about Caitlin Clark’s possible return and decide to extend the agreement with the star.
Indiana Fever And Stephanie White Entering Most Crucial Phase Of 2025 WNBA Season
The coach joined the team in November 2024. After much hype around the team at the start of the season, the coach enters the toughest phase of her second stint as head coach at Indiana. Even though the eighth-place finish after 37 games would disappoint many fans, the franchise still has a chance to compete for the playoffs despite the injury-plagued season.
Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boson are carrying most of the team’s load, and the return of their third superstar, CC, would energize the side. Even after confirming a place in the top eight, they might end up facing in-form teams like the Minnesota Lynx, the Las Vegas Aces, or the Atlanta Dream in the first round, which could be the toughest road to the title for the side.
