After back-to-back losses against the Las Vegas Aces, the expansion team Golden State Valkyries needed to win their next fixture to stay afloat in the playoff contention. With just over 15 games remaining in the season, every win and loss mattered. Fans were behind the side, once again filling up the Chase Center for the Valks.
While the fans were excited, and the team was ready to deliver, City’s Icon, Stephen Curry, delivered a promise he made at the start of the season. A gesture from the NBA superstar touched everyone’s heart as the team also delivered a mesmerizing performance to please the NBA Superstar.
Stephen Curry Keeps Promise For Valkyries
When the Golden State Valkyries made their season debut, two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry promised that he would be present for the games at Chase Center. He made a surprise visit during the Indiana Fever game, and the team won the game 88-77. The WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark mentioned the Warriors’ guard as her inspiration during an interview. Now he was at the arena again for a game against the LA Sparks.
The fans enjoyed his presence, cheering every time he was on the Jumbotron. Ironically, Steph’s God-Sister Cameron Brink was on the opposing team, leaving the superstar clapping on every possession. The WNBA also celebrated his presence with a special post for the NBA superstar.

The four-time NBA champion and three-point shooter mentioned that he plans to attend “as many games as possible.” He also showed support for the WNBA players, applauding their game. The star is also actively involved in activities around the WNBA, competing against the league’s best shooter, Sabrina Ionescu, in the three-point contest during the NBA All-Star game. The Liberty star also took his name as inspiration during the recent WNBA All-Star Game.
Golden State Valkyries Dominate Surging Sparks
It might be the pressure of performing or the presence of Steph, but the Valks were at their defensive best to stop the surging LA side. Before the game, the Sparks had an 8-1 record in the last nine games. They climbed up to the ninth position behind that run, challenging for the postseason spot after a slow start.

The San Francisco side held on to the eighth spot. A loss would have handed the LA team chance to overtake them in the standings. But Veronica Burton’s offensive game and team defense held the former champions to 59 points in the game.
Dearica Hamby (15 points) and Julie Allemand (10 points) managed to score in double figures. The rest of the visitors were held below 10 points. This was Lynne Roberts’ team’s lowest total in the 2025 season, with stars like Kelsey Plum (4 points) and Rickea Jackson (8 points) struggling offensively.
The Valks won both games with Steph’s presence in the stands. Fans would urge the star to attend all the games, helping the side create history in its inaugural season.
