The 2026 WNBA season will be the 30th anniversary season, and to add to the excitement, fans already have two new challengers, ‘crazy’ free agency and WNBA draft, along with a brand new broadcaster, NBC. The network is already looking to bring more expertise to its broadcasting with Sue Bird.
ESPN cut Diana Taurasi and Bird’s show for the NCAA tournament, which ended her run as an analyst, but now, with NBC, she would be calling the pro-level games.

Sue Bird Joins NBC Network
WNBA announced a mega broadcasting deal during the 2025 season, and now NBC will restart its broadcasting from the 2026 season. The network previously broadcast WNBA games from 1997 to 2002.
Now, for the new era, they are adding Sue Bird to the team. Although the broadcaster has not confirmed her role explicitly, looking at her status and expertise, she would be part of post-game or pre-game shows analyzing the games.

Sue Bird Unsure About Team USA For FIBA World Cup
Team USA is one of the most storied sides in women’s basketball. The side is once again entering the next World Cup tournament in Germany. While the team won all qualification games with young players, USA Basketball conducted the third camp with a different set of players. Fans questioned the absence of Caitlin Clark in the camp, but the former Olympian gold medalist’s answer might clear some doubts.

Answering the question about the possible team in the World Cup, Bird said, “You’ve got to let things unfold and take your time. There’s no rushing it. I would love to tell you what the final roster will be today, but that’s unrealistic.”
For Team USA, it’s not just about looking to enter the competition with the strongest team but also about building a foundation for budding stars, and Sue Bird would play a key role in the same.
