After a defeat at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena, the Phoenix Mercury were aggressive at home against the Indiana Fever. Though the franchise warmly welcomed Sophie Cunningham with a dedicated message, players on the court were not showing any love to their opponents. Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald found themselves taking the brunt.
In the first quarter, Colson was down and removed by the Fever staff. In the same game, McDonald left the court in the fourth quarter. Losing both players in one game was a massive blow for the Indiana Fever. After the evaluation, the franchise provided a concerning update on their injuries.
Sydney Colson And Aari McDonald’s Injuries Explained
After a loss against the Sparks, Stephanie white’s side had another challenging opponent – the Phoenix Mercury at the end of their four-game road trip. The team tried their best to take control of the game at the PHX arena, but lost by 35 points. Over the crushing defeat, the side had to deal with two injuries to its guards.
Sydney Colson fell awkwardly on her left leg as she jumped for an offensive rebound. The Fever star suffered from pain as her knee was seen bending inwards. Staff and players nearby quickly circled her for initial checks, while they were forced to carry her off the court for evaluation. As per the latest reports, she has been diagnosed with an ACL tear. This is the second time this season that Colson has missed games. Previously, she missed games in May. But sadly, it’s the end of the season for her this time.
Sydney Colson (left ACL tear) and Aari McDonald (broken bone in right foot) will both miss the remainder of the season after suffering injuries during our game in Phoenix on Thursday.

Impact Of Aari McDonald And Sydney Colson’s Injuries
The Indiana Fever enjoyed a healthy run despite Caitlin Clark’s injury, but the recent blow scared the team, with Colson and McDonald out. They are not only down to nine active players; with Clark’s return date uncertain, they will have to look into options to fill the vacant positions. Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, and Kelsey Mitchell could be taking over the duty for a while.

After slowly getting into the groove, the Indiana Fever has hit a significant roadblock and will have to find a solution soon. While McDonald’s mid-season inclusion proved effective for the team, fans will be hoping for a similar move from the front office.
