Early Life

Born on October 24, 2002, in Norfolk, Virginia, Quinerly attended Lake Taylor High School, where she averaged a double-double with 20.3 points and 10 assists per game as a sophomore. She led the Titans to a state championship in 2019 and earned the title of VHSCA 4A Player of the Year. Her high school success set the stage for a standout collegiate career.

College Career at West Virginia

Quinerly played five decorated seasons at West Virginia (2019–2025). She consistently proved herself as one of the nation’s top defenders and versatile scorers:

  • Freshman Year: Averaged 8.8 PPG, 2.7 APG, and 2.3 SPG, earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

  • Sophomore Year: Posted 14.5 PPG, 2.2 APG, and 2.1 SPG, earning her First-Team All-Big 12 and All-Defensive honors.

  • Junior Year: Averaged 19.8 PPG, 2.7 APG, and 2.9 SPG; named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and a WBCA All-American Honorable Mention.

  • Senior Year: Dominated with 20.4 PPG, 3.2 APG, and 3.0 SPG; became the first in WVU history to win back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year. Hit 2,016 career points, ranking 3rd in program history, and led the league in steals.

Throughout her college career, JJ was named a WBCA and AP All-American Honorable Mention, a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year finalist, and a candidate for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award.
