Kayla McBride was born on June 25, 1992, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She attended Villa Maria Academy, where she became one of the top high school players in the state.
McBride went on to play college basketball at Notre Dame (2010–2014), where she had a decorated career. She helped the Fighting Irish reach multiple Final Four appearances and was named a First-Team All-American in 2014. She graduated as one of Notre Dame’s all-time greats, finishing with over 1,800 career points.
McBride was selected 3rd overall in the 2014 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces).
