Maya Moore is one of the greatest women’s basketball players of all time, known for her scoring, versatility, and championship pedigree. Early Life and College Career

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Maya Moore excelled in basketball from a young age. She attended Collins Hill High School in Georgia before committing to University of Connecticut (UConn). At UConn, she helped the Huskies win two NCAA Championships (2009, 2010) and was named NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 2009.

Moore finished her college career as one of UConn’s all-time leaders in scoring and was widely regarded as the top prospect in her draft class.

WNBA Career

Maya Moore was selected No. 1 overall in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx. She made an immediate impact, winning WNBA Rookie of the Year honors and quickly establishing herself as one of the league’s premier players.

During her career with the Lynx, Moore won four WNBA Championships (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) and earned eight All-Star selections. She was named WNBA MVP in 2014 and became known for her clutch performances in the playoffs.

After taking a break from professional basketball in 2019 to focus on social justice and criminal justice reform, Moore made a brief return in 2023 but has since focused on coaching and advocacy.
