Shey Peddy is a seasoned WNBA guard valued for her hustle, defense, clutch shooting, and perseverance. Drafted 23rd overall in 2012 by the Chicago Sky, she didn’t make her league debut until 2019. Since then, Peddy has become known for stepping up in big moments and delivering off the bench.
Born October 28, 1988, in Boston, Massachusetts, Peddy attended Melrose High School. She began her college career at Wright State (2007–2009), earning Horizon League Newcomer of the Year honors and All-Defensive selections. She transferred to Temple University, where she became the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, finished with nearly 1,900 career points, led her team in steals, and earned multiple All-Defensive and All-Conference honors.
Peddy’s WNBA journey began in 2019 with the Washington Mystics, where she appeared in 15 games. In 2020, she was signed by the Phoenix Mercury mid-season and quickly made her mark.
She hit a buzzer-beating three in a playoff elimination game against Washington.
In 2021, she knocked down clutch free throws in Game 5 of the Semifinals to send Phoenix to the Finals.
She set the WNBA/NBA record by starting her career with 37 consecutive made free throws.
Peddy has played in over 116 WNBA games, maintaining solid averages of 6.0 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 2.3 APG, and 1.1 SPG. Her best season came in 2022 when she started 24 games and averaged 9.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.4 APG, and 1.6 SPG.
At the start of the 2025 season, she signed a hardship contract with the Los Angeles Sparks and averaged 5.0 PPG and 2.7 APG over six games.
Later in 2025, following injuries to their roster, the Indiana Fever also signed her to a seven-day hardship deal.
Peddy has also excelled internationally, most recently winning the 2025 EuroCup Championship with the London Lions, and she played in Athletes Unlimited in 2025.
