Stephanie White was born on June 20, 1977, in West Lebanon, Indiana. She became a standout at Seeger High School, earning recognition as one of the nation’s top high school players. White was named 1995 Indiana Miss Basketball and Naismith Prep Player of the Year, highlighting her as one of the best young players in the country.
White attended Purdue University (1995–1999), where she became one of the greatest players in program history. She led the Boilermakers to the 1999 NCAA Championship, earning Big Ten Player of the Year and All-American honors. She graduated as Purdue’s second all-time leading scorer and remains a legendary figure in the school’s basketball history.
WNBA (1999–2004): White was drafted 21st overall in the 1999 WNBA Draft by the Charlotte Sting. She later played for the Indiana Fever, where she spent most of her career. Known for her defense and court vision, she retired from professional play in 2004.
After retiring, White transitioned to coaching and broadcasting:
College Coaching: Served as an assistant coach at Ball State, Kansas State, and Toledo before moving to Vanderbilt as associate head coach.
