Coming from an athletic family, she excelled in basketball early, becoming a standout at Newton South High School where she was named the 2018 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. Burton committed to Northwestern University, where she played from 2018 to 2022. She developed into one of the nation’s premier point guards and defensive players. Burton was a three-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year (2020, 2021, 2022) and helped Northwestern to a Big Ten regular season title in 2020. By the end of her college career, she had tallied over 1,600 points, 500 rebounds, 600 assists, and 400 steals, cementing her legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.
Burton was selected 7th overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.
