The 2025 season for the league has been a historic one, with multiple records already set and broken in just 75% of the regular season. The league itself set an attendance record in the season. Amid this fuss, there is one player who is silently impacting the league – Allisha Gray.
After her fourth quarter burst, which handed the Lynx its first back-to-back loss, the Dreams’ rookie guard Ta-Hina Paopao lauded her leader. She even named the 30-year-old star MVP of the season.
Allisha Gray’s Performance Earns Praise From Te-Hina Paopao
The Atlanta Dream’s victory over the Minnesota Lynx was a statement win for the side. It not only put the league on high alert for a potential title contender but also highlighted the 2017 rookie of the year winner’s capabilities to win games.

Allisha Gray scored 27 points in the game and orchestrated the decisive 12-0 run in the fourth quarter, handing her team a 75-73 win. She scored nine points in the final 10 minutes but also had four rebounds, two assists and three steals in the game. Her all-around performance was key to the Dreams’ current success, and rookie Ta-Hina Paopao was thrilled to be part of it.
Talking about her vet, the 22-year-old guard called her college alumna MVP winner. It’s interesting to note that the star didn’t earn an All-Star selection even after her consistent high-end performances. She spoke about the same in brief, highlighting that keeping belief in herself worked for her.
“Most valuable player. She’s been putting up numbers like no other at an efficient clip. She’s a hooper, and she’s come up really big in times we needed it, and it’s only up from here. I keep feeding her the rock, and she’s having really big games for us, and we’re proud of her. But the job is not done,” Paopao said after the game.

The talented guard put on clinical performances in recent games and could be in the 2025 MVP discussions. Behind her performances, the Dream now has 23 wins in the season, already matching the most wins in the franchise’s history. They will look to go a step ahead and challenge for the title in 2025.
Allisha Gray And Atlanta Dream Are Dark Horse For Championship
The second half of the season proved to be the game-changer for the Atlanta team. They won 11 out of 15 games, putting them in second place in the league standings. Apart from the Aces, they dominated every other opponent, dominating the game at both ends.
The former South Carolina star led the way for her side, taking over the offensive duties. She has a perfect front-court for her support in Brionna Jones, Rhyne Howard and Brittney Griner. With the growth of Paopao and Jordin Canada, Karl Smesko has serious depth on his roster. Wins over the Lynx and Liberty and a surprise second-place finish make them a dark horse in the championship run.
