The WNBA is currently reeling amid the CBA talks. With names like Chelsea Gray urging for fair treatment of WNBA stars, the situation is getting complicated with each passing day. And adding further tension to the matter is the ongoing rift between the WNBA and the WNBPA. With the CBA deadline set to expire this month, executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson recently had a heated response to Adam Silver’s words.
The primary point of contention between the athletes and WNBA leadership has been the revenue share. While the NBA gives a substantial portion to its players, WNBA stars receive only a meager 7%. And while the NBA commissioner tried to push back on the ask, Jackson immediately responded.
Terri Carmichael Jackson Makes Stance Clear On Adam Silver’s Perspective
Silver recently sat down for an interview with NBC’s ‘Today.’ Speaking on the burning question, the NBA commissioner seemed quite dismissive of the athletes’ plea for an increased revenue-sharing model. He mentioned that there is a significant difference in the revenue generated by the NBA and the WNBA. Thus, ‘sharing’ was not the right word according to Silver. Such a statement did not sit well with Carmichael Jackson at all.

“You know they know it’s bad when the best they say they can do is more of the same: a fixed salary system and a separate revenue-sharing plan that only includes a piece of a piece of the pie, and pays themselves (the league) back first. We’ve come to the table prepared to do business. They’ve responded with bad math and are hoping everyone doesn’t understand what “uncapped” actually means. Adam Silver said it himself on behalf of the WNBA. ‘Share isn’t the word.’ It’s not in their vocabulary,” said Jackson.

According to Front Office Sports, the WNBA’s latest proposal does not include a maximum salary exceeding $1 million. On the contrary, the super-max number proposed lingers around $850,000 with a veteran minimum of $300,000. Meanwhile, as the situation intensified, Silver did vouch for a pay raise for the WNBA stars.

Adam Silver Pushed For WNBA Players’ Pay Raise Ahead Of Terri Carmichael Jackson’s Backlash
The CBA situation blew up with Napheesa Collier’s explosive exit interview. Collier lashed out at WNBA leadership, accusing them of a lack of accountability. However, commenting on the situation, NBA Commissioner Silver expressed confidence in resolving the WNBA labor dispute in a timely manner. He also spoke in favor of WNBA players receiving a significant pay raise in the coming years.

“Yes, I think share isn’t the right way to look at it, because there’s so much more revenue in the NBA. I think you should look at it in absolute numbers in terms of what they are making. And they are going to get a big increase in this cycle of collective bargaining. And they deserve it,” Silver said.
Thus, it is evident that things are getting even darker with each passing day. Now, fans are waiting to see how soon the dispute between the players and the authorities subsides.
