The Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun had quite a contrasting fate from their last game. While Reese and her team pulled off a miracle by defeating the New York Liberty, the Sun lost to the Indiana Fever. And while Kamila Cardoso lauded Reese’s impressive rebounding abilities, she failed to keep up the momentum against the Sun. And one of the major reasons for the same was Tina Charles.
Charles was on the court for thirty-one minutes. And she made sure that it had a decisive impact on the game. She dropped ten rebounds, two assists and 23 points to help her team achieve a 94-84 victory. However, while this was already an impressive act, Charles further bolstered her superstar status via a rare feat.
Tina Charles Achieves Impressive Double-Double Record
Charles is already a legend. Displaying some impressive hooping skills, the 36-year-old is currently second on the all-time WNBA scoring list. But she does not seem to be satisfied and seems to be hungry for more. Her double-double of 10 rebounds and 23 points against the Sky was the 200th occasion when the Sun center pulled off the feat.

And it made her the first ever in WNBA history to achieve the elite feat. En route to greatness, Charles toppled another WNBA legend, Sylvia Fowles. With 193 career double-doubles, Fowles is second on the list. As per the time being, the 36-year-old’s reign at the top seems to be quite secure.

The closest active athlete who can threaten her record is A’ja Wilson. And she is miles behind with 118 double-doubles. Meanwhile, this is not the first time Charles has improved her WNBA history stat.

Tina Charles Led Scoring Charts In Sun’s Domination Over Valkyries
Angel Reese have matched Charles’ rookie record earlier in the season. But the Sun star has ensured that her stats keep on piling. Back in late July, Charles’ Sun faced off against the Golden State Valkyries. While the team won 95-64, the star of the show was once again the 36-year-old. Putting up a show, Charles dropped 24 points along with six rebounds.

And she did it in just a matter of 19 minutes. However, her incredible show also came with an added perk. This was the 185th time Charles has dropped a 20+ points game. Such a stat puts her in the second position on this list. She is only behind the all-time leading scorer, Dina Taurasi. Analyzing her game further, the 36-year-old Sun’s star had a 72% accuracy shooting from the field. Thus, despite the chatter about her age, the WNBA veteran continues to shine. And with the Sun trying to salvage their season, her crucial contribution is of utmost importance.
