The WNBA has a lot on its plate at the moment. For one, the CBA negotiations are expected to keep the league leadership significantly busy. However, while the CBA talks are becoming quite tense, there is some upbeat news for the league as well. And one of the highly anticipated developments will be free agency. The likes of Kelsey Mitchell have expressed uncertainty over her future with the Fever. Likewise, there will be numerous names that teams will target to build a superior squad.
Now, according to the updates, a majority of the players will be available for the free agency market. However, the likes of Napheesa Collier, Breana Stewart, and A’ja Wilson are pretty much unlikely to switch their existing teams. On the contrary, there are some names that are expected to make some major moves in free agency. Here are 3 WNBA stars who might rile up the upcoming transfer market.
Top 3 WNBA Stars To Look Out For In The Free Agency
3. Satou Sabally

Sabally had been one of the biggest acquisitions in the Phoenix Mercury’s history. Last season, her arrival at the Mercury led to several players relocating to other teams around the league. As the season progressed, Sabally initially appeared to be an appropriate fit for the team. The star player has also heaped praises on the Mercury front office and stated that the treatment and support that she received was nothing like anything she had experienced before.
However, despite being a fan-favorite, Sabally’s on-court form did not look the best. She dropped averages of 16.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Surely, such a performance might trigger her to realize that she might not have found the right coach to unlock her true potential. This might also prompt her to consider a trade this season.
2. Arike Ogunbowale

Ogunbowale was drafted back in 2019 as the No. 5 overall pick. However, back then, the 28-year-old was brought in as one of the frontline options for the Dallas Wings. Unfortunately, as of this season, Ogunbowale’s importance has become largely diminished. With the emergence of Paige Bueckers, the Dallas front office has made it clear that it is around Bueckers that they will be building the team in the future. Add to that a dismal season for Ogunbowale.

The Wings’ star averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. And although Ogunbowale earned praise despite a career-low performance, a change is looking inevitable for the 28-year-old.
1. Skylar Diggins

Examining Diggins’ past career records, it is evident that she tends not to stay with one team for long. And while her partnership alongside Nneka Ogwumike in Seattle was a hit, it is unlikely that the WNBA star will continue with the Storm. Diggins did prove herself this year, and the sudden firing of Noelle Quinn could further make her find a new team in the upcoming season.
