As expected, WNBA fans erupted following Brondello’s unexpected firing.
Soon after she left her position for the Liberty, there were rumors about where she could go next. And while fans speculated about teams like the Dallas Wings, officials have now revealed the answer. Brondello will be taking charge of the Toronto Tempo.

The announcement has surely elevated fans’ excitement levels. And a glance at Brondello’s CV will reveal why. She has won two championships with two different WNBA teams now. Jonathan Kolb Reveals Real Reason For Parting Ways With Sandy Brondello
Brondello was a fan-favorite coach. Not only did fans support her, but her team also backed her. Following Liberty’s exit from the tournament, Breanna Stewart fiercely defended Brondello, citing the team’s support for her. Thus, following her exit, the Liberty front office faced a plethora of backlash. Commenting on the issue, GM Kolb pointed out that the decision was not based on a single season’s performance.

“This decision was in no way punitive, nor was it reactive — but it’s instead rooted in being proactive. Nor was this decision based solely on the results this past season. Ultimately, we determined that evolution and innovation is what is needed at this time. This is not a results-based organization. This is not about not winning or winning. It’s about how do we position ourselves to be at the top of the league in a real sustainable way as the league does evolve in the ways we’re talking about on the floor,” Kolb said in the press conference.
Thus, the Tempo has surely landed itself a big boost in Brondello. Now, with the ex-Liberty coach looking for redemption, fans will be eager to see what’s next.
