In recent times, most of the WNBA news is clouded by the dark shadows of the CBA negotiations. With the initial deadline missed, the WNBA has asked for a 30-day extension to sort out the issues.
Now, then, moving the attention from the raging CBA debate, there are still some interesting things going on that need addressing. And one such event coming up will be the WNBA draft.
With some of the most promising lineups of youngsters waiting, teams will be looking to get the best of the best for themselves. And this draft will be the most crucial for expansion teams like the Toronto Tempo.
Who Will Toronto Tempo Target In The WNBA Draft?
Toronto Tempo recently announced Sandy Brondello as their head coach. Now, as the draft picks are coming up, the franchise will be plotting their probable picks as they will get to pick immediately after the first five lottery picks.

According to the announcement, the WNBA draft lottery will take place on November 23. And with the Dallas Wings, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, Washington Mystics, and Chicago Sky fighting it out for the top five picks, Tempo, too, must be ready to finalize who they will pick in order to make a solid start.
Initially, outlets like ESPN, Tankathon, CBS, and Bleacher Report made their predictions. Now then, all four have proposed two names- Ta’Niya Latson from South Carolina and Awa Fam from Valencia.

However, it is unclear at the moment whether the likes of Fam will be available for the Tempo until the 6th pick. Nonetheless, while the Tempo will be trying hard to start off on a good note, their new head coach recently shared the motivation behind accepting the job.
Sandy Brondello Reveals Why She Accepted Toronto Tempo’s Offer
Brondello had a great run with the New York Liberty. She led the franchise to a WNBA title last season and also ended up in the playoffs this year. Unfortunately, despite her strong showing, critics still targeted Brondello. And, while taking over as Tempo’s head coach, Brondello revealed a secret.
The coach said, “Once I was let go from New York I had some interest from other teams and going through that process was fun. A little overwhelming, a little stressful just making that decision because they’re all great situations. But in the end, my heart was leading me to Toronto. To build something from scratch in a whole new city. A whole new country. It’s not just Toronto’s team. It’s Canada’s team,.
Thus, with plenty left to sort out, everyone now waits to see what Toronto Tempo does next.
