The WNBA is staring at a possible player strike at the moment. And at the same time, Unrivaled is breaking barriers in women’s professional basketball. From the very first season itself, Unrivaled has gained a lot of traction. With a shorter format and an enhanced paycheck, the tournament emerged as a boon for the WNBA players in the offseason.
Currently, as the league is looking to expand, the presence of names like Paige Bueckers and co. has further enhanced the tournament’s appeal. Owing to the same, Unrivaled recently created history, leaving behind the WNBA.

Unrivaled Records Massive Attendance At Philadelphia
The 3-on-3 league went to Philadelphia amidst a massive crowd reception. Taking place at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, the double-header created some significant hype. As fans flocked in large numbers, the official attendance was recorded at 21,490.

This was a huge number as it was the very first time more than 21,000 people turned up for a regular-season professional women’s basketball game. Also, the number of attendees dwarfed the highest attendance of a WNBA game. For reference, the highest fan turnout that a WNBA game witnessed came way back on September 19, 2024.
As Caitlin Clark took the season by storm, almost 20,711 came to catch Clark’s final game of her rookie season. However, the WNBA attendance did cross the 21,000 mark twice before. But on both occasions, it was the finals. Back in 2003 and 2007 finals at the Detroit Shock’s Palace of Auburn Hills.

Adding further to the narrative, Unrivaled also recorded the highest attendance at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. This is a huge deal for women’s basketball as the arena is home to the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers as well as the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. Meanwhile, as the tournament looks to gain some momentum, Paige Bueckers explained a major point of difference with the WNBA.
Paige Bueckers Details One Major Difference Between Unrivaled And WNBA

Bueckers has seen it all at the moment. Playing in the WNBA, she has already established herself as a world-class talent. Clinching the Rookie of the Year award, Bueckers is now looking to make further inroads into the elite territory.
Now, coming to the Unrivaled, the Dallas Wings star has been in some stellar form for the Breeze BC. However, speaking on the difference between the two leagues, the 23-year-old pointed out one major point.
“Yeah, I think the physicality one. We all know that the W is physical, but on right? But I feel like it’s even more physical than that, and then not being able to have help side, like you’re basically on the island, so at points you’re gonna have to be okay with getting cooked,” said Bueckers.
Thus, with things looking rosy, fans are now looking to see what’s next.
