When we hear Unrivaled, what comes to mind? Fast-paced games, stars on the court and on the sidelines, and a lot of media attention. However, the one-of-a-kind women’s 3-on-3 basketball league is turning heads, and the reason is a little more than the above.
On Monday, September 8, the league announced it’s now valued at $340 million after closing an oversubscribed Series B funding round. That’s a huge jump from its earlier days, and with these mind-boggling numbers, the future looks more than just bright.
Unrivaled Going Full Force With Latest Investment Push
If the critics are still squinting their foreheads on whether Unrivaled would be a threat to the WNBA, Napheesa Collier has rejected any such claims. However, the faith among the WNBA’s top names is growing as well.

The Breanna Stewart and Collier co-founded league is gaining traction upwards and onwards. Additionally, the latest round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with big names like Serena Williams’ Serena Ventures jumping in. There were a few more big names as well, like the Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, Orlando Magic brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner, University of Maryland president Darryll J. Pines and his wife Sylvia, and sports exec Sam Rapoport.
Alex Morgan’s Trybe Ventures and Warner Bros. Discovery also added to their previous stakes. While the exact amount raised in this round isn’t public, earlier funding included $7 million in seed money back in May 2024 and over $28 million in Series A last December, putting the total capital north of $50 million when you factor in everything.

Unrivaled kicked off its first season in January 2025 in Miami, giving top WNBA players a chance to stay stateside during the offseason instead of heading overseas. The league’s model is all about putting athletes first. And that is showing up in reality as players earned the highest average salaries in U.S. women’s team sports history, around $222,000 each, plus equity stakes that make them part owners. That said, Gabby Williams even committed to quitting the WNBA if Unrivaled offers better pay.
Unrivaled’s Unique Split Seems To Be Working Among Basketball Fans
While it’s tiring for some young fans to sit and watch the whole WNBA game, Unrivaled has got the fix. With 36 players split into six teams, like Rose BC (who won the inaugural championship) and Lunar Owls, the eight-week season wrapped up in March.
Additionally, it sold out crowds at the 850-seat Wayfair Arena and had an average of 221,000 viewers on TNT and truTV. The championship game between Rose and Vinyl pulled in 364,000 viewers, and overall, the league reached 11.9 million fans.
Stars like Angel Reese, Brittney Griner, and Sabrina Ionescu shone, and the 1-on-1 tournament added extra buzz, with Collier taking home the win. Just like that, social media exploded too, with 589 million impressions and players gaining a collective million followers.
Merch sales topped seven figures, and partnerships with brands like Under Armour and Sephora helped drive about $30 million in revenue, almost double what they expected.
