Veronica Burton has been one of the surprise packages this season. Improving her game significantly, Burton has constantly been dropping strong hints about her MIP case this season. Helping the Valkyries win some important games this year, Burton has exceeded even the head coach Natalie Nakase’s expectations.
Well, impressing Nakase is quite a tough thing to do. That is because she has been around some top-notch talent in the WNBA. Nakase has firsthand experience of witnessing A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and other stars up close. Thus, when the Valkyries’ head coach heaped praises on Burton, it was evident that her form had indeed been special.
Natalie Nakase Compares Veronica Burton To Chris Paul
The Valkyries are set to face the Phoenix Mercury next. Ahead of the game, the Golden State head coach met with the media to discuss their campaign so far. And one thing that Nakase particularly stressed was Burton’s impeccable performance. She even brought in comparisons with the ‘Point-God’ himself, Chris Paul.

“She’s had multiple games of double-digit assists and zero turnovers. That’s the Chris Paul era of me when I was with the Clippers,” Nakase stated.

Natalie Nakase’s had a lot of praise for MIP frontrunner Veronica Burton, including describing her as the “heartbeat” of the Valkyries.
But ahead of tonight’s matchup, Nakase compared Burton to the point god himself Chris Paul. More 👇👇👇:https://t.co/u1BCK8AfcJ
Elaborating further, the head coach stated how the Valkyries teammates challenged and pushed each other to come up with better stats. But with zero turnovers from Burton, Nakase did not have any other option but to admire. She next stated that having no turnovers despite being a point guard looks like Burton is having a ‘Point God’ phase like Chris Paul. Meanwhile, all of this praise is seemingly not making the 25-year-old complacent. Instead, she is using it as her fuel for delivering more incredible performances.

Veronica Burton Had A Career Game Against Mystics
The 25-year-old star is pretty humble to begin with. After all, only three other players have recorded a zero-turnover, double-digit assist combo. However, the likes of Leila Lecan, Courtney Williams, and Natasha Cloud have only done it once. On the contrary, Burton has achieved the feat thrice already. And Burton is continuously keeping up with her good work.

Combining with Kate Martin, Burton shone bright in the Valkyries’ narrow win against the Mystics. And that was not all. When they faced the Mystics once again recently, the Valkyries once again had an 88-83 victory. Much to the delight of the fans, the 25-year-old dropped a career-high 30 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds in the game.
