The Golden State Valkyries made a strong entry in the WNBA, setting a record as the first expansion team to reach the playoffs in its inaugural season. HC Natalie Nakase won the Coach of the Year award. Veronica Burton also made her mark in the season, leading the side with her clutch plays.
The 2022 rookie will play in the Unrivalled league, which could help her refine her game and play alongside many of the WNBA’s top players. While she is currently enjoying a relaxing offseason, she shared some memories from the season and her offseason on Instagram, which drew hilarious reactions from her teammates.
Lexie Hull And Kate Martin React To Veronica Burton’s Post
After the season-long hard work and drenching regular season, the player decided to share some memories close to her with family, teammates, and even from her other offseason activities. In her post, Burton showcased her horse-riding skills in two photos and also shared stills from a beach volleyball and Pickleball game. Many fans loved her multi-talented personality and showered love on the guard. But her teammates were not letting the chance slip away.

While the players had fun with Burton online, everyone lauded her performance and Impact during the regular season. Even her past coaches were happy with her move to the Valkyries and spoke about the same to Newton’s local newspaper.
Veronica Burton Receives Praise From Her Previous Coaches For 2025 Season Performance
The move from the Connecticut Sun to the expansion team worked well for the former Northwestern star. Earning more game time and the opportunity to showcase her talent, she averaged nearly 12 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game. With striking improvement in her stats, she earned the Most Improved Player award. Connecticut Sun GM Morgan Tuck was also honest about Burton’s contribution ahead of the expansion draft and praised the talented guard.
“I’m really happy for her that the combination of her work and the opportunity that she got in Golden State was able to fit in a way where she was able to show everyone what she’s capable of,” Joe Rogers, her high school coach, told Newton Beacon Newton South.

The 25-year-old star also thanked her team and management for instilling confidence in her, and added that playing in Newton and serving as team captain in high school helped her develop leadership skills that benefit her today.
Also, Veronica Burton could be one player sure to stay with the 2025 expansion team in the 2026 season. And the front office would look to add more supporting cast around her.
