The Indiana Fever vs the Chicago Sky game might not have Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese on the court, but there was fire between the two rival franchises. CC and AR5 were on the courtside supporting their teams in the mega matchup, and both cheered their team’s dominant plays as they happened.
The situation got tense in one moment, with Sophie Cunningham and Michaela Onyenwere shoving each other. The Iowa star stood up and cheered her teammate, clapping loudly at the United Center.
Caitlin Clark Cheers Sophie Cunningham’s Fiery Response
The 23-year-old guard missed her fourth game in a row. But she travelled with the team to Chicago for the grand fixture against the Sky. After initial slipups, the visitors took control of the game and held the lead for most of the period.
Michaela Onyenwere attempted to go by the Fever forward for a layup at the start of the final quarter. But the 28-year-old star held her ground and even altered the attempt. Both players pounced on the loose ball, with their hands getting tangled. When the ref blew the whistle for the jump ball, the Sky guard shoved the number 8.
The former outspoken Missouri star also showed aggression, exchanging fiery words with her opponent. The home crowd was quite following their team’s 75-61 deficit and poor performance. But CC gave a standing ovation to her teammate’s game play and fight back.
The Fever recorded their third win of the season against the conference rivals by a combined 77 points. The Sky team will face the Washington Mystics next, while the Indiana franchise will host the Phoenix Mercury.

Holly Rowe Provides Concerning Caitlin Clark Return Schedule
Fans are getting anxious for a positive update with the 2024 Rookie of the Year winner out of action for the 14 games. On-court reporter Holly Howe provided a concerning update, hinting at a lengthier wait for the fans.
“[Clark] did see a specialist last week, and no additional injury was found in that exam and scans. Stephanie White did tell us that they will be even more cautious in their approach to her return to play this time. Last time when she came back from injury, she didn’t get any practice time [or] any time to ramp up her conditioning. This time, they’re going to make sure she has time and practice to get rhythm and time with her teammates,” Rowe said in her report.
The third week of August means eight more games’ absence for the record-breaking rookie. The side is performing well against the lower-ranked sides. But they will look to get their leading playmaker back as early as possible for more game time before the postseason.
